Ms. Shin Eunmi, who is a Korean-American, introduced a documented film called 'The Myth of North Korea in the World Cup 1966 (London)' in her Facebook space on June 19,2014. She says about this film:

"In 1966, 13 years after the Korean War ended, North Korea participated in the 8th World Cup Tournament in London as the only team representing Asia including Oceania. North Korea advanced to the quarter-final, defeating the most favored team, Italy. In the quarter- final North Korea was once leading Portugal by 3 goals (3:0) in the first half. Though, North Korea eventually lost the match by giving away 5 consecutive goals to Portugal without gaining any further. This was the best record ever achieved by an Asian team in the World Cup history until their southern brothers, South Korea, advanced to the semi-final in Seoul World Cup in 2002.
