STORYLINE:
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea's (DPRK's) Ambassador Ri
Tong Il said today (4 April) that his country will not welcome a visit by US
envoy Robert King to discuss the imprisonment of American citizen Kenneth Bae.
Ri also condemned the current military exercises being conducted
between the United States and the Republic of Korea.
He said the US intention was "to keep and maintain"
their "very outdated and anachronistic" military alliance with South
Korea and their military presence in Northeast Asia.
The DPRK's diplomat said that "under the pretext of the
nuclear and so-called human rights issue of the DPRK, the US is hell-bent on
eliminating the DPRK politically, isolating the DPRK economically and
militarily."
Regarding King's visit, he said "the DPRK has no idea of
welcoming him in our land" and added that King was "at the forefront of
making all this conspiracies against DPRK" and "has been to the human
rights Council meeting blaming the DPRK's human rights while he is ignoring
human rights violations in his own country."
